BVC Gives Back

This year we are teaming up with Durham Children’s Aid & The Refuge in Oshawa.
We have been assigned families and individuals to sponsor and we need your help filing those needs.
This Sunday, you will again have the opportunity to select items to purchase or donate funds to support the purchase of items.

Christmas in the Village: Brooklin Village Outdoor Christmas Party


It’s that awesome time of year again, where we get to serve our community at Christmas in The Village!

We are looking for helpers, bakers & sponsors!

Time: 6:00-8:00PM
Location: Grass Park, Brooklin

We need:

  • 8 people to bake 100 sugar cookies each
  • 10 people to be $30 sponsors for supplies
  • 5 families to volunteer their TIME and serve at our station

Our next Soup and Bagel Sunday is December 1st!

Bring your best soup (& a ladel) and we’ll supply the Bagels!  The is a great chance to mingle and meet new people after the service!


This December we are going to support New Life Neighbourhood Centre, for our ladies night!

We are going to supply items and pack hygiene bags for those in need that will be going out the NEXT day to those in need.

Here’s how it works!
When you sign up to come, you will be assigned a certain number of requested hygiene items to bring along on December 2nd.

In total, our group will be bringing along with us:

  • 100 Toothpaste
  • 150 Deodorant (mens & women’s)
  • 55 2-in-1 Shampoo’s

The Pilgrims will continue our study and reflection of the Beatitudes on our walks on the following dates:

The Pilgrim group will also be starting a Spiritual Disciplines Course starting Sunday January 12.
Uriah Pond will be leading the discussion.

The Pilgrim Group will be teaching an 8-week course in Spiritual Disciplines. In addition to exploring traditional disciplines, such as prayer, fasting, meditation, and lectio divina, we will introduce creative approaches to spiritual formation, such as visio divina, poetry, and art. The course includes a weekend retreat, March 6 – 8, 2020, during which we will spend an afternoon in silence and solitude. During the course, you will be encouraged to create a personal confession of faith and rule of life. If you are interested, please contact Janice Higgins [email protected].

The retreat will be at the Sisters of St. John Convent, Toronto. Cost to be confirmed for the retreat.


Let’s all gather around the table, as we have been on the 3rd Monday of each month! We will exchange our favourite Christmas treats with each other!

Everyone who comes should bring 6 DOZEN of their favourite treats, all wrapped in packages of 1 dozen.

We will exchange our treats, sip some hot drinks and take part in some activities that will encourage us to focus our hearts and minds on the birth of our Saviour!

We hope you can make it! Even if you don’t want to exchange treats, please come!

Pilgrimage Study Tour to Ireland

Dean and Uriah are co-leading a pilgrimage study tour to Ireland in July 2020. The tour includes a walking pilgrimage through the Irish countryside along St. Patrick’s Way. We will explore St. Patrick, the man and the myth, and Celtic Christianity. While it is a study tour offer for academic credit by Tyndale Seminary, it is fully open to non-students who wish to engage in a pilgrimage retreat. Details are available in the brochure.
